Simple Skincare (That You’ll Stick To!) |✨

Hey my loves!

Hope you’re all doing fab.

This is another post in my month-long “#LookGoodFeelBetter” social media campaign. And, as promised, here is the section on skincare! (next up, haircare…)

I did write a blog post not so long ago, saying how I had cut down my skincare by a lot because I found my skin reacted much better to less products. This is something I still continue to do.

I think lots of people see tonnes of products advertising perfect skin and think that they immediately need to load up on them all to get clear, healthy looking skin.

I have absolutely loved every single item of skincare I own, my oils, cleansers and moisturisers through and through, day in and day out… but for some reason, in the past few months, my skin has changed.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I noticed a few months ago now that my skin was unnecessarily bad and decided to try something I’d never done before: cut down completely. Within a few days, my skin started to clear up, and since then, it has maintained a healthy-looking, clear-ish appearance (expect for a few blemishes from old spots, and then the few spots I get around the time of the month!)

So, I think it’s important to listen to your own skin!

Currently, I have a minimal routine of cleansing and moisturising. I honestly believe that clean, moisturised skin is all you need!

I use the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm if I’m wearing lots of makeup. I rub the balm straight onto my face over my makeup, then i use my B. Micellar Water Sensitive Face Wipes to remove it. I swear by these wipes and have done for years. They’re gentle on the skin, suitable for sensitive skin, and have a textured surface to make sure they really clean the face. They’re also cruelty free and vegan.

Because I loved the B. Micellar wipes so much, I recently tried the B. Micellar Water, (also cruelty free and vegan) and now this is a staple in my routine too. In fact, I pour some of the micellar water onto the wipes most evenings to properly clean my face. It’s really refreshing and cleans my skin completely without leaving it feeling dry or sore.

Then, I moisturise. I have a range of different moisturisers I use, but they mainly vary between La Roche Possay Effaclar Duo+ which I find is good at lightening my old spot scars, and the Superdrug Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream. Superdrug’s products are all cruelty free.

Recently, I have been using the UTan and Tone Coconut Tanning Water which is infused with coconut water. I have been absolutely loving it as it gives such a natural colour and is kind to the skin! I really wanted to try the UTan and Tone Nourishing Night Creme too, so I have just literally ordered it to give it a try! Again, Scottish brand UTan and Tone are cruelty free.

Occasionally I do use face masks, and at the minute I prefer sheet masks. I feel like masks are not just a “quick-fix” option, and they can’t do what regimented skincare routine can in just five minutes. So, I do use them, but I don’t feel like they are a necessity in my routine. Also, due to my skin clearing up with the less products I use, I’m cautious of using them too often, pretty much for the reason of… if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!

And that is literally it. On top of this minimal routine, I make sure I get lots of vitamins in my diet, especially vitamin c. I also take a vitamin containing zinc, which is amazing for the skin when paired with vitamin c. I try to get lots of fish in my diet too because it’s so good for the skin!

Then, obviously, one that we all know too… drink lots of water!

I do drink alcohol and I do eat chocolate and I do eat pizza around 20% of the time, which are all terrible for your skin, but I think when paired with 80% goodness, it balances out pretty well!  (A girl’s gotta have her wine and chocolate, hasn’t she?)

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed the post.

Don’t forget to like, follow and leave me some comments!

Lots of love,

L&L
